         THE REDMOUNTAINROCKS STORY

Southwest casual, southwest cool, southwest  comfortable. Every day, any night...

It was a few years ago but I remember it well. For my wife's birthday I decided to make a necklace for her. It was an amethyst chip necklace and even though I had no idea what I was doing she loved it. So, I made another one. Then the next year I made a couple more pieces for her. Her friends seemed to like the necklaces, in fact a lot of people liked the necklaces my wife was wearing. Several people ended up buying the necklaces, bracelets and earrings I was making.

I have lived in Arizona for many years and I enjoy the natural beauty of this place. Many of my works have a southwest feel with turquoise, red jasper, river stone and silver. I also like to work in the earth tone range as well with tan picture jasper and colorful Red Creek jasper as pictured to the left. Recently I "discovered" onyx and realized that several other stones just come alive when paired with the deep black of onyx, it combines a rustic feel with an urban look. Cool stone, that onyx.

Lately, Lapis Lazuli has had my attention. For years I couldn't figure out how to work with blue- too many shades and hues. But, I now have several lapis pieces and groups. I like blue again.

All of the beads I use are natural stone beads, no glass or plastic. I like working with natural stones, it is a challenge and a reward to find stones that come together and make something nice to look at. Because all of the stones are natural, each work is unique and individual.

If you are located in the east valley, Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Scottsdale, Queen Creek or other areas east of Phoenix, it is possible to make arrangements for a live showing of any and all pieces on the website.

Nearly all natural stones have been purported to possess some metaphysical property, power or energy.  Learning about the properties of the stones is something I enjoy and that information is often included in the description of the pieces. Every now and then there may even be a little story or legend about a particular work.

All of the necklaces, bracelets and earrings by redmountainrocks are handmade by me in Mesa, Arizona using wire and high quality findings, again, no plastic or string.

Welcome to Redmountainrocks, please look around, let me know what you think.
